ZANDVOORT CAUSES HIGHS & LOWS FOR THE RPM TEAM

The past weekend we travelled to Zandvoort, Netherlands for the third round of the FRECA season. After a great weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, Noah was eager to continue his great form while Giovanni and Edgar were looking for a first top-10 finish.

We started the weekend with some difficulties to find a good pace at Zandvoort on Friday. The search for speed continued on Saturday morning with Qualifying 1 coming up. Despite the hard work of the team, we could not manage to get good results on the board with a P17 for Noah, P26 for Giovanni and a P27 for Edgar.

Rain hit the Zandvoort circuit on Saturday afternoon, just before the start of Race 1. The rain did bring some extra excitement to the team because this meant a bigger chance of points in changeable weather. Due to unsafe conditions the race was started behind the safety car, but with 15mins to go it was safe enough to race at full speed.

The rainy conditions suited our cars and drivers very well as all three drivers gained quite some places during the race, but unfortunately the race was too short to drive into the points. This resulted in a P14 for Noah, P19 for Giovanni and P22 for Edgar.

IN FRONT OF THOUSANDS OF DUTCH FANS

After a positive Race 1 where we showed some great pace, we were eager to show this pace on a dry track. Thanks to the hard work of the team during the weekend we were able to put on a good result for Qualifying 2 on Sunday. Noah qualified P5, but would start Race 2 from P4 on the grid due to a penalty for PREMA driver Wharton. Giovanni and Edgar qualified P24 and P25 respectively for Race 2.

In front of thousands of Dutch fans it was time for Race 2 on Sunday afternoon. Noah, Edgar and Giovanni all gained places during Race 2 with Noah as top-rookie and a personal best result for Edgar. Giovanni was driving in P18 but was pushed wide with 22 minutes to go, sending him back to P23. Despite the setback he was still able to finish in P21.

Driver standings after round 3:
P6 Noah – 42 points
P22 Giovanni– 0 points
P26 Edgar – 0 points
Team standings after round 3:
P5 – 42 points
