IMPORTANT POINTS SCORED AT PAUL RICARD

For what is already the sixth round of racing for our FRECA team, we travelled to Circuit de Paul Ricard in France. After the round in Mugello, we prepared for the final race ahead of the summer break.

Qualifying:

During the first Qualifying Session of the weekend, our drivers struggled to find the right pace. This resulted in the best time set by Noah with a P19, followed by Edgar in P23. Giovanni finished the RPM grid for Race 1 at P25. Noah turned things around during the second Qualifying Session, setting the 15th best time of the grid. Edgar came close with a P17 and Giovanni set the 20th time in Q2.

THIS MEANT A BIG PUSH FORWARD AND SOME NICE OVERTAKES WHILE DOING SO

Race 1:

During the weekend’s first race, Noah and Edgar both gained some positions compared to where they started. Giovanni lost some places at the start and had to come to box on lap 3 of the race to change his broken front-wing. The bad luck was not over yet as Noah had to retire the car with a broken suspension on lap 4, after contact with another driver. Edgar in the meantime moved up to P18 and was fighting for P17, when he got taken out after contact with the other driver. Giovanni finished P27, Noah DNF, and Edgar DNF.

Race 2:

The second and final race of the weekend was an eventful one. Lots of rain meant lots of spinning and oversteering, resulting in multiple DNFs. All RPM drivers managed to control their cars and stay on track after the safety-car came in to start the race. Both Noah and Giovanni gained places in the first lap, while Edgar lost some places in very difficult wet conditions. With 15 minutes to go, Noah was on a roll and driving the fastest laps on the race. The meant a big push forward and some very nice overtakes while doing so. With 1 minute to go, Noah was able to make the move for P3 and secure a brilliant podium. Giovanni had one of his best races as of yet, gaining a total of nine positions and turning his unfavourable P20 into a P11 finish. Edgar finished his home race in P20.

We still have time to recover and adapt for the final four race weekends of the season. The first round will take us back to Italy, where we are racing on the famous Imola circuit. Right now the focus is to improve enough to finish the season on a high!

Driver standings after round 6:
P8 Noah – 61 points
P24 Giovanni– 0 points
P29 Edgar – 0 points
Team standings after round 6:
