NOAH CLAIMS ROOKIE CHAMPIONSHIP AT MONZA; FIRST TITLE FOR RPM
Following a positive round 9 at Barcelona, the team arrived at Monza with a possibility to claim the Rookie Championship with Noah.
Qualifying 1:
The weekend at Monza started with rain during the practice sessions on Friday and this weather continued on Saturday morning. With the rain pouring down the session got underway for 30 minutes of qualifying. First up were Giovanni and Edgar to set a fast lap in the rain. Unfortunately it never came this far, because as soon as the drivers were about to set a fast lap the session got red flagged due to the weather conditions. It turned out the track conditions were too dangerous to continue and therefore the session got suspended. As nobody had set a time on the timing sheets, the starting grid for Race 1 was determent by the results of FP1. This meant that Noah would start P30, Edgar in P20 and Giovanni in P18.
Race 1:
Edgar: P18
Noah: DNF
Giovanni: DNF
Qualifying 2:
After a rainy Saturday, the weather got better on Sunday morning. Although it stopped raining, the track was still wet and the drivers still needed to drive on wet tires. Noah was able to put in a good lap during Q2, resulting in a P8 in Group A and P16 on the grid of Race 2. Our other Rookie driver, Edgar Pierre, managed to qualify on P27 out of the 33 drivers in his first qualifying at Monza. Giovanni qualified in P17 for the second race of the weekend.
Race 2:
Noah: P10
Giovanni: P17
Edgar: DNF
With Noah finishing in P10 he clinched the 2024 FRECA Rookie Championship! An amazing achievement by the Danish driver and the whole team, who have worked super hard all season long.
