FIRST PODIUM OF THE SEASON FOR PIERRE-LOUIS CHOVET AND RPM AT THE RED BULL RING.
With a P3 and a P4 for Pierre-Louis Chovet and Owen Tangavelou respectively in Q1, there was all to play for in Race 1 at the Red Bull Ring. It looked like it was going to be a dry and sunny race start, but as soon as the race was about to start the rain came pooring down. After a delay of about 10 minutes, the race got underway with a Safety Car start and a soaking wet track. However, after a crash behind the Safety Car, the organisation decided to red flag the race due to the wet-weather conditions. This meant Pierre-Louis and Owen where still in P3 and P4 with 24 minutes to go.
As soon as the weather cleared the race got restarted behind the Safety Car and after 5 minutes the drivers were finally shown the green flag. Although it was not raining anymore, the track was still very wet, which meant everyone was starting on wet- weather tyres. With 15 minutes to go, Chovet had a chance to take the lead into turn 3 and he did so! Meanwhile Owen was fighting for P4 in difficult conditions.

A late Safety Car meant Pierre-Louis his gap to P2 was ereased with 5 minutes to go, while Owen dropped to P8. With only
2 laps to go Chovet had give it all to hold off Haverkort on a drying track. Unfortunaly Chovet could not hold off Haverkort and on the last corner of the last lap he was also passed by Dufek for P2. This is still a very good result for Chovet and RPM in our debut race, working together.
